Allen City Council will welcome a new face on Tuesday, June 27 as Carl Clemencich replaces Ross Obermeyer in Place No. 2.
Obermeyer opted not to run for reelection after fifteen years on city council. Prior to his 2002 election, Obermeyer served on the Parks and Recreation Board (1992-1994) and Planning and Zoning Commission (1994-2002).
Voters chose Clemencich to fill the vacant seat during the June 10 runoff election. He previously served as an Allen ISD School Board Trustee and participated on several city boards, including the Allen Economic Development Board (2004-2012), Parks and Recreation Board (2000-2004) and Allen Community Development Board (1996-2000).
Citizens are invited to join Allen City Council members at a public reception to welcome Clemencich and celebrate Obermeyer’s long record of civic service. Light refreshments will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27 in the Allen City Hall rotunda (305 Century Parkway). A program recognizing Clemencich, Obermeyer and re-elected Mayor Stephen Terrell will begin at 6 p.m.
