Allen’s newest council member took his oath of office on Tuesday, June 27. Carl Clemencich replaces outgoing council member Ross Obermeyer in Place No. 2.
Clemencich was elected to City Council on June 10 following a long history of volunteering in the Allen community. He was appointed to the Allen Community Development Board in 1996, followed by the Allen Parks and Recreation Board (2000-2004) and Allen Economic Development Board (2004-2012). In 2012, he joined the Allen Independent School District Board as a Trustee, where he served until his election to City Council.
In addition to his service on city and school boards, Clemencich volunteers with the Allen Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT), Allen Police Department Citizens on Patrol and Habitat for Humanity. He has also participated in the Allen Citizens Fire Academy, Citizens Police Academy and Collin County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy.
Clemencich is a certified public accountant (CPA) with over thirty years’ experience in finance and corporate accounting. He and his wife, Laurie, have been married for over thirty years; they have five children and four grandchildren. They are members of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Allen.
