Good news for Allen trail users! A scenic loop along Watters Creek will soon be completed.
A quarter-mile section of pavement, along with a new pedestrian bridge, will connect the trail behind Hidden Creek Apartments to a section of Watters Trail that terminates just west of Watters Road. Once completed, the trail will offer a roughly 2-mile loop winding between Bethany Drive and McDermott Drive.
Contractors will also connect the loop to a sidewalk along the southbound lanes of Watters Road. View trail map.
The project will be funded by $595,000 in trail construction funds provided by the Allen Community Development Corporation (ACDC). The organization oversees the spending of sales tax revenue generated by a half-cent tax on purchases made in Allen.
Allen City Council awarded the project to North Rock Construction during the July 11 meeting. Construction will take approximately six months. The new trail section is expected to open in early spring.
