Aging pipes in the Hillside Village subdivision will soon receive a big upgrade.
Contractors will begin replacing aging and deteriorating water and sanitary sewer mains with resilient PVC this November. The first phase of the project will focus on Valley View, Circle Cove, Grassy Glen, Rolling Ridge and Hill Haven drives. Utility work is expected to be completed by December 2018. Once the new mains are installed, impacted roads will receive a micro surfacing treatment to provide a uniform look and finish.
The $3.2 million dollar project is among several water and sewer projects happening citywide as part of continual efforts to rehabilitate aging infrastructure.
A public meeting for the Hillside Village neighborhood will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of D.L. Roundtree Elementary, (800 E Main Street).
