The architects behind Central Fire Station’s proposed redesign have been selected to produce the final construction drawings.
On Feb. 27, city council members approved a $492,275 contract with PGAL to complete the design, provide technical drawings and offer administration services throughout the project. PGAL will also provide specialized consultant services to address repairs to the station’s roof.
Voters approved $6.6 million for the station’s renovation in the 2016 bond election. The renovated station will offer a new, larger firehouse to accommodate more firefighters. Administrative areas will also be reconfigured to make better use of existing space. The redesigned station is expected to meet the needs of Allen’s growing community for the next 30 years.
Construction is slated to begin in November, with expected completion in spring 2020.
