Allen Community Development Corporation (CDC) wants input on how to spend proceeds from the CDC's half-cent sales tax. Residents are invited to chime in at a citywide town hall meeting on Monday, March 19.
The half-cent sales tax is used to fund community development initiatives as permitted by state law. Authorized uses include purchase of land, buildings, equipment, facilities, expenditures and improvements suitable for professional or amateur athletics, entertainment and tourism, parks and public spaces, and transportation. CDC funding may also be used for other projects which promote new or expanded business enterprises.
Previous CDC projects include trail construction and repair, athletic field lighting and artificial turf, paratransit service, playground equipment replacement, recreation center renovations and special event funding for Allen USA.
