City engineers will share project details and answer questions about planned improvements for the Alma/McDermott intersection at a public meeting on Thursday, April 19 (moved from April 17). An overview presentation, followed by face-to-face Q & A with staff, will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at Allen Senior Recreation Center (451 St Mary Drive). Attendees may arrive any time between 6 and 7 p.m. to ask questions or obtain information, even if they are unable to attend the overview presentation.
The City plans to improve Alma Drive to six lanes between Hedgecoxe Drive and Rainforest Lane, where 5-lane and 4-lane sections currently exist. This is part of the full project scope to improve the Alma/McDermott intersection. Lanes will be added in the center of the roadway and will not intrude on homeowner properties. Twelve mature trees will be relocated within new median landscaping.
Allen completed the first phase of the project in 2016 with improvements to the Exchange and Alma intersection. Collin County has agreed to match City funds dollar-for-dollar to help expand this important regional corridor.
Those unable to attend may view the presentation slideshow on the Capital Projects web page following the meeting. A project information sheet and road map exhibit are available for preview.
