Collin College can move forward with plans to build a new Technical Campus in Allen.
Allen City Council approved zoning and concept plans for the 32-acre campus at the April 24 meeting. Located north of Ridgeview Drive between Alma Drive and Exchange Parkway, the campus will consist of four primary buildings with nearly 340,000 square feet of classroom, lab and office space.
According to Collin College, the Technical Campus will train students in advanced manufacturing, aviation technology, construction, health science, logistics and transportation. The Collin College Technical Campus will be linked with the new Allen ISD STEAM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) building via two walkways. Allen ISD plans to open the STEAM Campus to students in 2019-2020.
With zoning now approved, the City will work closely with Collin College to review detailed engineering and architectural plans before construction begins. The campus is expected to open in fall of 2020.
