Exciting developments near Watters Creek are spurring changes at two Bethany Drive intersections.
The northwest corner of US 75 and Bethany Drive will soon be home to several office buildings, a large parking garage and a 300-room hotel and convention center. City engineers expect changing traffic patterns and increased pedestrian traffic will result once these projects are completed.
To accommodate these changes, a $1.3 million intersection improvement project will kick off in May. The project will add new lanes on Watters Road and Watters Creek Boulevard and extend sidewalks from the north side of Bethany Drive into Watters Creek. Traffic signal improvements, pavement markings and sign changes are also included in the project. Allen City Council approved the construction contract at the April 24 meeting.
Substantial completion of the project is expected by mid-November. This timeline will limit impact to Watters Creek during the holiday shopping season and allows improvements to be in place prior to the hotel and convention center opening in December.
