Allen residents can weigh in on the City’s proposed tax rate and budget during two upcoming public hearings. The proposed tax rate is not to exceed $0.505 per $100 of taxable value and is a reduction in the current property tax rate of $0.51 per $100. Despite the lowered rate, a combination of new taxable properties and increased appraisal values will increase the City’s total tax intake by $4,185,071 or 6.61%. See official tax rate notice.
Citizens can comment on the proposed budget or property tax rate during public hearings conducted as part of the City Council meetings on Tuesday, Aug. 14 and Tuesday, Aug. 28. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Allen City Hall (305 Century Parkway). As part of the public hearings, highlights of the proposed FY2018-19 budget will be presented.
