Two long-standing partnerships between the City of Allen and the Allen Independent School District (AISD) have been renewed.
School Resource Officers (SRO) have served at AISD schools for more than twenty years. During this time, the number of SROs has increased based on the needs of the district and the desire for safety in our schools. Historically, the City of Allen and the AISD have agreed to split the cost of the SRO program to allow SROs to continue their public safety and educational efforts at AISD schools. This agreement also allows for future growth of the SRO program over the next 5 years.
The City and the AISD also work together to employ crossing guards and address traffic concerns throughout the. City. The two agencies meet monthly to collaborate on new ideas and solutions throughout the school year. The City has allocated $120,000 for the proposed 2019 fiscal year to continue this partnership with the AISD.
