[ARCHIVED] Dealing with Fallen Tree Limbs

tree branch

If you lost a tree or large limbs during recent storms, here's what you need to know to dispose of them properly.

  • If you hire a professional tree company, their services must include tree/limb disposal. Allen City Ordinance requires tree removal companies to provide this service. The City of Allen is not responsible for disposal of branches cut by a contractor. Please refer to City Ordinance, Health and Environment, Sec. III, Solid Waste, Sec.6-65.
  • Weekly curbside pickup is for small branches and yard waste only. If your branches are less than 4 inches in diameter, you can create up to seven bundles and tie them with biodegradable twine. The bundles must be less than 4 feet long and weigh no more than 40 pounds. These bundles must be placed at your usual trash/recycling collection point on your assigned trash day. Please keep them at least 2 feet away from trash and recycling bins.
  • If you don't hire a contractor, you can schedule a pickup for larger loose brush. CWD will collect a loose pile of up to 3 cubic yards (the size of three washing machines side-by-side) once a month on your assigned collection day. View collection schedule. You must schedule the collection by noon on the day before your assigned collection by calling CWD at 972.392.9300 (option 2).  The pile must be placed at your usual trash/recycling collection point at least 2 feet from trash and recycling bins.
  • Prefer to dispose it yourself? Bring it to the Custer Road Transfer Station at 9901 Custer Road, Plano. Load your yard waste into your personal vehicle or rented flatbed truck and bring it to the Custer Road Transfer Station Wood Grinding Facility. You can bring up to two loads per month with your current water bill and driver’s license with matching address. For more information about the Custer Road Transfer Station, visit the NTMWD website.
