A change to Allen’s health code is making it easier for pet owners to dine with their dogs.
Restaurants may opt to allow dogs on patios using a special exception granted with their annual health permit. The change was approved by Allen City Council during their September 25 meeting. Facilities that choose to allow dogs must post signs and create an exterior entrance so pets can’t come indoors. To ensure cleanliness, patios must be made from a non-porous surface and all food prep must be done indoors.
Owners much secure dogs to a leash at all times. Dog dishes and the feeding of dogs are prohibited.
