[ARCHIVED] Scare Up Some Fun at these 7 Halloween Events

From spine-chilling movies to costume parties for pets, here are 7 ways to make your Halloween “spook-tacular.”

  1. Turn a typical pumpkin into a high-speed racer for The Edge’s Pumpkin Derby, Oct. 28. Open to ages 6-17. Optional derby workshops available on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26.
  2. Go pumpkin picking at the Creekwood Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festival. The festival takes place on Oct. 20, but the patch is open until Oct. 31, 9 a.m. to dusk.
  3. Bring your littlest pumpkins to Halloween Story Time at Allen Public Library on Oct. 26. Free tickets are available at the Children’s Desk 30 minutes prior to the 2:30 event. Limited to 275. Ages 2+.
  4. Take a spooky swim at the Halloween Bash at the Nat on Oct. 27. Compete in a costume contest, then stick around for a screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.” Open to all ages.
  5. Put your costume on ice at Allen Community Ice Rink's Halloween Skate, Oct. 27. Wear a costume and get free skate rental! All ages welcome.
  6. Have a “howl” of a good time with your furry friend at the Howl-O-Ween Barkin’ Bash. Dress up your dog for contests, raffles, games and more on Oct. 28.
  7. Join Allen Public Library Oct. 31 for a free showing of one of America’s most classic horror films: Psycho.
