From spine-chilling movies to costume parties for pets, here are 7 ways to make your Halloween “spook-tacular.”
- Turn a typical pumpkin into a high-speed racer for The Edge’s Pumpkin Derby, Oct. 28. Open to ages 6-17. Optional derby workshops available on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26.
- Go pumpkin picking at the Creekwood Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festival. The festival takes place on Oct. 20, but the patch is open until Oct. 31, 9 a.m. to dusk.
- Bring your littlest pumpkins to Halloween Story Time at Allen Public Library on Oct. 26. Free tickets are available at the Children’s Desk 30 minutes prior to the 2:30 event. Limited to 275. Ages 2+.
- Take a spooky swim at the Halloween Bash at the Nat on Oct. 27. Compete in a costume contest, then stick around for a screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.” Open to all ages.
- Put your costume on ice at Allen Community Ice Rink's Halloween Skate, Oct. 27. Wear a costume and get free skate rental! All ages welcome.
- Have a “howl” of a good time with your furry friend at the Howl-O-Ween Barkin’ Bash. Dress up your dog for contests, raffles, games and more on Oct. 28.
- Join Allen Public Library Oct. 31 for a free showing of one of America’s most classic horror films: Psycho.
