Mayor Stephen Terrell will be among the first members of a new board aimed at investing in 9-1-1 emergency communications in North Texas.
The North Central Texas 9-1-1 Emergency Communications District Board will oversee the allocation of $0.50 fees collected each month on individual and business telephone accounts. This funding was previously managed by state lawmakers. By creating a regional board, North Texas cities will have more local control of how those fees are used to provide 9-1-1 services in their communities.
Mayor Terrell currently serves on the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) 9-1-1 Advisory Committee and previously served on the NCTCOG Executive Board.
