New tools for handling public works emergencies will soon be headed to Allen.
In 2018, City staff applied for a Homeland Security Grant through the Office of the Governor to fund an emergency response trailer and equipment. The trailer will be stocked with emergency barricades, chain saws, water pumps, small generators, safety vests and other personal protective equipment. The gear can be used by Allen or regional partners to respond to public works emergencies or other incidents.
The trailer and equipment carry a $43,000 price tag, covered by the Homeland Security Grant. The City of Allen will store the trailer and pay for maintenance when necessary.
