Kate Meacham has been selected as the next leader of the Allen Parks and Recreation Department.
Meacham has fifteen years of experience in the park and recreation industry, most recently as a deputy director for the City of Southlake. In this role she oversaw 230 employees, managed a $22 million annual department budget and served as project manager for the construction and opening of a $55 million, 105,000 square foot recreation facility.
"Kate’s unique professional experiences, collaborative approach to leadership and contagious enthusiasm for parks and recreation make her the perfect fit for this role,” said Assistant City Manager Tim Dentler, who served as Allen’s Parks and Recreation Director until his promotion in 2019. “Her drive for service to her community along with the passion she brings for our profession will make her a great addition to our award-winning team.”
Prior to her 2014 move to Southlake, Meacham managed recreation and aquatic facilities in Indiana, Colorado, Texas and Auckland, New Zealand.
“I have always looked to Allen as a city of distinction, both for its local reputation and its recognition as a National Gold Medal winner,” said Meacham. “I am thrilled to join this incredible team and look forward to advancing their mission of providing innovative, responsive and remarkable service.”
Meacham will begin her new role with the City of Allen on March 2.
