Allen Public Library is making plans to reopen with the safety of customers and staff in mind. Reopening plans will be posted on AllenLibrary.org when finalized. In the meantime, library cardholders can schedule curbside pickup of up to ten materials beginning Monday, May 4.
Who can use curbside pickup?
Allen Public Library account holders with a 14-digit library card number can reserve materials for curbside pickup. Temporary account holders may continue using online materials, but are unable to schedule curbside pickup at this time.
How do I choose my materials?
Sign in to your Allen Public Library account and browse the catalog to view available materials. You may reserve up to ten materials per account by selecting the “Place Request” option. (Example below.) Library staff will call you when your requests are ready to pick up.
How do I pick up my materials?
Curbside pickup is available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, beginning on June 15. Reserved items must be picked up within 7 days. You have the option of calling ahead and reserving a pickup time (a faster option) or calling when you arrive.
At pickup, vehicles should enter the curbside drop-off lane on Allen Drive. Call the number provided on curbside signs to alert librarians to your arrival. Library staff wearing masks will place your materials in the trunk or backseat of your vehicle.
When will these materials be due?
Library materials checked out on or after May 4, 2020 will be due after their normal loan period. Library materials checked out before May 4, 2020 will not be due until after June 1.
To reduce the spread of germs, staff members will not accept returned materials, fine payments or book donations at the curbside pickup location. Library materials may be returned at any time using the book drop on Coats Drive. We are not accepting donations at this time.
