Allen Public Library has a few new services for patrons: Ask APL, Book Bundles, and a youth version of our Next Reads service.

Ask APL

Would you like personalized assistance and resources from library staff from the comfort of your home?  Try Ask APL!  Simply fill out our short Ask APL form, providing as much detail as possible.  Library staff will contact you within 1-3 business days with a response.

Typical requests include:

  • Getting started researching a topic
  • Learning to use the Library’s digital resources
  • Getting started with job searches or creating a resume
  • Basic internet and email
  • Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point)

For more information on our Ask APL service, go to AllenLibrary.org/AskAPL.

Book Bundles

A book bundle is a selection of up to five titles within a certain book category for young readers.  The categories are board books, picture books, easy readers, and beginning chapter books.  To request a book bundle for the pre- or emerging readers in the family, parents can go to AllenLibrary.org/BookBundles.  The items selected by staff will be available to pick up curbside or in person.  Please allow up to two business days for your request to be filled.  You will receive a notification from the library when your items are ready for pickup.

Youth Next Reads

For more personalized book selection, we now offer our Next Reads service for kids and teens from pre-readers to age 18.  Get personalized book recommendations right in your inbox.  Simply fill out the Youth Next Reads form at AllenLibrary.org/YouthNextReads. Library staff will email you a list of titles to choose from based on the information you provided.  If you see a title you like, request it through our catalog.

And just as a reminder, the adult Next Reads form (ages 18 and up) is located at AllenLibrary.org/NextReads.

For more reading lists and reading resources, please view our pages for Children’s Book Suggestions, Teen Book Suggestions, and our Reader Resources page for adults.
