ACTV has once again been named among the best municipal television stations in the nation on September 4, 2020 when it received the prestigious Overall Excellence in Government Programming award at the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) virtual conference online watch party.

In addition to the prestigious top award, the city-operated TV station won 7 government programming awards, including 2 first-place wins.

ACTV won the Award of Excellence and first-place awards in Public Safety for Be a Firefighter - Join the Allen Fire Department and Public Education for Stories of Service - Inspiration Through Education. The station also took Awards of Distinction in the Library category for Stories of Service - A Place to Grow, Community Awareness for Giving Me Life, Best Use of Video on Social Media for the #ThisIsAllen campaign and Awards of Honor in the categories of Promotion and Magazine Format Series.

NATOA is a national association representing the needs and interests of local governments in the areas of communications, broadband and technology. Its annual Government Programming Awards honor excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. This year, NATOA received 550 entries in 65 categories submitted by local governments across the country.

“At a time when getting information out about the City is more important than ever before, the ACTV team of three, however small, continuously work hard to produce programming that is timely, crucial and honest to our viewers,” said Mark Kaufmann, ACTV Executive Producer. “ACTV provides a vital public service with its transparent and accessible coverage of local government. I congratulate Video Producers Scott Evans and Jason Swiencki on their dedication to the station’s continued excellence. It’s an honor to receive this recognition from our colleagues in the field.”

Over the past twenty years, ACTV has been recognized 10 times by NATOA for overall programming excellence. The station – which competes in a category with government cable TV stations in large U.S. cities – was previously recognized with the top government programming award in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

ACTV can be watched on Spectrum channel 16, AT&T Uverse channel 99, Verizon FiOS and Grande channel 15 or with live streaming or video on demand at AllenTV.org. Or visit and subscribe to ACTV’s You Tube channel.
