The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized City of Allen Water Conservation with a 2020 WaterSense Excellence Award for promoting WaterSense and water efficiency in 2019.
Winning agencies were honored in a virtual award ceremony on Wednesday, October 7.
WaterSense honored the City of Allen as a 2020 Excellence in Education and Outreach Award winner for its robust Block Leader Program, popular Sustainable Landscape Series, Earthkind Demonstration Garden located at Allen Public Library and participation in EPA WaterSense promotions.
WaterSense is a voluntary partnership program sponsored by EPA. Its labels for water-efficient products helped consumers save 871 billion gallons of water in 2019, along with the energy used to heat that water and money on utility bills. Award winners demonstrate their commitment to saving this precious resource by producing, building, and promoting labeled products and homes that are independently certified to use less water and perform well.
