Allen City Council has an updated road map to help navigate priorities and budget discussions over the next several years.
Councilmembers voted to receive the City of Allen Strategic Plan 2036 during the May 11 meeting. The document was created by Allen City Councilmembers during a year-long planning process. It outlines the Council’s vision, mission and goals of City government to help staff align priorities and budgets.
Goals for 2026
The document outlines five goals for the City of Allen to guide decisions through year 2026:
- Financially sound and transparent City government
- Safe and livable community for all
- Vibrant community with lively destinations and successful commercial centers
- High-performing City team providing resident-focused services
- Diverse, equitable and inclusive community
Objectives, challenges/opportunities and action agendas
Councilmembers provided additional direction by identifying more detailed objectives for each goal. Though objectives may shift over time or with new council priorities, they offer a starting point for City management and staff as they weigh how to best serve citizens through staffing, programming and internal processes.
The report also includes observations related to the short-term challenges and opportunities identified by Allen City Council community feedback. This input provides situational context for the goals and objectives but are not meant as action items for staff or council consideration.
Immediate council priorities for 2021 are also listed, with items of special concern marked as “top” or “high” priority.
Citizens can review the executive summary of the strategic plan and track the progress of each goal on the City website at CityofAllen.org/Strategic Plan.
