Local youth trained alongside Allen Police staff during a five-day athletic camp in July. Allen Police Department (APD) partnered with Athlete Training and Health for the first-ever APD F.I.T. Camp (Fitness, Integrity, Teamwork).
Athlete Training and Health welcomed 25 athletes ages 8-12 to train at its Allen facility from July 26-30. Students participated in speed and agility training with facility staff, and APD was onsite to interact and work out with the young athletes. Each camp day included an educational demo by APD; athletes met and learned about APD’s Motor Unit, Drone Unit and K-9 Unit.
F.I.T. camp ended with a surprise visit from Allen Fire Department. Following their final workout, athletes cooled off with free Kona Ice and a friendly spray from an Allen fire truck!
Led by APD’s Community Relations Unit, the F.I.T Camp is expected to return in summer 2022. For the latest updates on F.I.T. Camp and other department programs, follow Allen Police Department on Facebook.
