Allen City Council approved a contract to begin Phase 2 replacement of water and sewer lines in the Windridge Estates neighborhood. The contract was approved at the Oct. 12 regular meeting.
The project will replace aging pipes and sewer lines built in the 1970s. The project is well under budget at approximately $4.2 million, using revenue bonds sold for infrastructure improvement projects like this in Allen. Construction is expected to begin January 2022.
Water line replacement will occur along the following streets: Hawthorne Drive, Windsor Drive, Windsor Place, Fairhaven Drive, Hanover Drive, Ridgemont Drive, Bell Drive, Cambridge Drive and Harrison Drive. The project also includes a water main extension along Greenville Avenue just south of Hightrail Drive. This waterline will help improve circulation of our water network, making our distribution system more reliable.
Sewer line replacement will occur along the following streets: Hawthorne Drive, Windsor Drive, Fairhaven Drive and Hanover Drive.
What happened in Phase 1 of the project?
Windridge Phase 2 is an extension of Windridge Phase 1, which is nearing completion. Phase 1 involved water and sewer line replacements in the neighborhood as well as full-width asphalt street replacement. Using a phased approach to these neighborhood enhancements helps the City deliver a more affordable and manageable project.
