Credit Union of Texas Event Center, formerly Allen Event Center, completed a major makeover in Fall 2021. The upgrades bring new energy and excitement to the arena and the events it hosts.
In August, the arena began a $2.9 million project to replace its aging audio/visual and sport lighting components with all-new redesigned systems.
The arena’s new Daktronics audio/visual system includes an enhanced Public Address (PA) system and the addition of four dynamic video boards (a total of six) placed throughout the arena bowl.
The total redesign and replacement of the PA system allows for better and more appropriate sound flow and clarity for a variety of events. The new sound system's predicted average STI, or measure of speech intelligibility, is 0.62 out of a possible 0.65, which correlates to a "very good" performance level.
In addition to replacing its two main video boards in the seating bowl, Credit Union of Texas Event Center added four additional screens throughout the arena. The incredibly sharp 5.9 mm pixel pitch LED displays deliver true-to-source color reproductions and pristine image quality to enhance the spectator experience.

The arena worked with Musco Lighting to replace its previous metal halide lights with an up-to-date, energy-efficient LED lighting system. The system delivers a cleaner, whiter light while enhancing special effects capabilities with color-changing fixtures.
