[ARCHIVED] Services planned for former Mayor Pro Tem Douglas Gallagher (1944-2022)

Former Allen City Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem Douglas Gallagher passed away on Thursday, January 13. Gallagher was elected as Councilmember, Place No. 3 in 1995 and re-elected in 1997 and 1999. He served as Mayor Pro Tem  from 2000 to 2001. His service to the Allen community also included roles on the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee, Planning and Zoning Commission and Economic Development Corporation.

“I had the honor and privilege to serve with Doug for four years on the Allen City Council and was always impressed with his dedication and attention to detail in regard to service to the City and community," said Allen Mayor Ken Fulk. "We also had the common bond of being Veterans, with Doug being a Navy Submariner. Doug will be missed by many in the community who knew and worked with him. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.”

Visitation will be held Friday, January 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Charles Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel (601 S. Tennessee St McKinney). A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 22 at Grace Church (2005 Estates Pkwy., Allen). View full obituary and funeral details.
