[ARCHIVED] Frigid temperatures, possible wintry mix predicted Feb. 2-4

With a Winter Storm Watch in effect Wednesday evening through Thursday evening, the City of Allen is preparing for extended freezing temperatures and the potential for rain, ice, and snow which may impact our area February 2-4.

Closure information and service impacts

This information was last updated at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, January 31. Future closures and service impacts will be added below.

  • Outdoor drinking fountain, park restrooms: Beginning Monday, Jan. 31, crews will begin turning off outdoor drinking fountains at parks and trailheads in preparation for freezing temperatures. Park restroom facilities will also close while temperatures are below freezing.
  • The Courses at Watters Creek: The Futures Course, short game area and putting green closed Monday, Jan. 31 so staff could begin covering the greens. The 9-Hole Players Course will close on Tuesday, Feb. 1 and the 18-Hole Traditions Course will close after the 9 a.m. Tuesday tee time. The range and facility will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 2 through the weekend.

Road conditions and pre-treatment

The City of Allen gives priority attention to bridges, intersections and main thoroughfares when preparing for potentially icy conditions. The City does not have the resources to treat all residential/neighborhood streets during snow and ice events.
