Congratulations to Allen Police Department’s two newest sergeants! Sergeant Chad Hernandez and Sergeant Jeff Burge look forward to serving APD and the community in their new rank.
Sergeant Chad Hernandez
Sergeant Hernandez grew up in Dallas. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Electrical Equipment Repair Specialist. Chad served on one deployment as a member of a Provision Security Force and ultimately attained the rank of Sergeant before being Honorably Discharged. Chad began his law enforcement career with Allen Police Department in 2009. While at APD, he's served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer and Patrol Supervisor. He also served as APD’s SWAT Team Operator, Point-man, Assistant Team Leader and currently the SWAT Team Leader. Chad holds instructor certifications in multiple in-service training courses.
Sergeant Jeff Burge
Sergeant Burge started his law enforcement career as a jailer with the Mesquite Police Department before being hired as a Dallas Police Officer In 1989. During his 28-year career with Dallas PD, Jeff worked in a variety of assignments and specialized units. Jeff joined Allen Police Department in 2019, where he's served as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, and most recently, Patrol Supervisor. He's a member of the SWAT Team, a certified TCOLE Instructor and holds a Master Peace Officer License.
