Allen City Council welcomed new and retuning councilmembers on Tuesday, May 24.
Councilmember Chris Schulmeister will serve his second term in Place No. 4. Councilmember Ben Trahan will enter his first term in Place No. 6, previously held by outgoing Mayor Pro Tem Baine Brooks.

As a longtime Allen resident and active member of the community, Councilmember Schulmeister has enjoyed a front-row seat to Allen’s remarkable growth.
Prior to his 2019 election to Allen City Council, Schulmeister served on the Allen Economic Development Corporation Board (2016-2019) and the Allen Community Development Corporation Board (2011-2016). Ben Trahan
Councilmember Trahan’s 24 years of banking experience and long history of volunteer service give him the insight and understanding that guide his decision-making as a leader in the Allen community.
Trahan’s volunteer service includes a breadth of organizations and topics. He currently serves on Collin College’s Banking and Financial Services Advisory Committee (2019-present) and as a volunteer deputy registrar for Collin County (2019-present). Outgoing Mayor Pro Tem Baine Brooks
Mr. Brooks’ passion for Allen’s continued growth and development inspired him to serve on Allen City Council. He was elected in 2012 to fill an unexpired term and reelected in 2013, 2016 and 2019. Councilmembers unanimously elected Brooks as Mayor Pro Tem on Feb. 23, 2021. His time on the Council ended due to Allen’s three-year staggered term limit.
During the May 24 Council meeting, Brooks was gifted a photo collage commemorating his time on the Council. He spoke positively about his time as a councilmember.
“What a privilege it’s been to serve this community,” said Brooks. “I absolutely love this community. Let’s keep this going great. Let’s continue being great.”
