Allen City Council voted to set the date of public hearings for the 2022-2023 annual City of Allen budget and tax rate. The proposed public hearing date is Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022.
View the proposed budget
The budget decreases the City’s tax rate to $0.429, a reduction of $0.041 from the previous year’s budget. At a property tax rate of $0.429, the municipal tax paid on the average single-family residential home (valued at $433,972) will be $1,862, an increase of approximately $32.

The “not to exceed” tax rate as defined by the State Legislature is $0.431357. This is the maximum tax rate that the City can adopt as defined by the legislature without a vote from the public, but is not the tax rate being proposed by the City Manager and is not necessarily the tax rate that the City Council will propose for adoption.
Allen City Council will meet Aug. 19-20 at the Marriott Dallas Allen Hotel and Convention Center for the annual City Council Budget Workshop. At the workshop, City Council will hear proposed department budgets and other aspects of the overall proposed city budget to provide recommendations and set the final proposed tax rate. The final proposed tax rate and the budget based on that tax rate will be presented for public hearing at the Sept. 13 City Council meeting at Allen City Hall.
The budget workshop is open to the public but is not a public forum, meaning members of the public can listen to presentations but will not have an opportunity to make comments. Hotel parking is free for those attending the workshop.
