The soccer fields at Celebration Park are closed Oct. 9-21 so they can be tended throughout the day to encourage proper grass growth.

Celebration Park serves as the host site of the Market Street Allen USA Celebration in June and receives year-round use from youth baseball and soccer associations. Have you ever wondered how the grass at Celebration Park looks so amazing throughout the year? Well, here's some insight on the process!

Allen Parks & Recreation is completing preliminary steps (such as aerifying and vericutting) in preparation for Celebration Park to be overseeded with rye grass. A major benefit of overseeding is it allows the turf to maintain a nice, lush green color during the winter months when the growth of Bermudagrass tends to be dormant. For more than 20 years, most of the 80 acres of Bermudagrass athletic fields within City of Allen have been overseeded with rye grass. This year, the City will reduce the overseed process to Celebration Park only, in a conscientious effort to reduce water use.
