As part of National Planting Day, Keep Allen Beautiful and Allen Garden Club will host a public dedication of a wildflower garden in memory of long-time resident and community volunteer Pat Buckley on Sept. 13. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at Stacy Park,1540 Edelweiss.
Patricia “Pat” Flaherty Buckley was a long-time Allen resident and dedicated volunteer with Keep Allen Beautiful for 12 years. She was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling in 2008 and again in 2011. She also served as a member of the Allen Garden Club and Allen Heritage Guild.
Following an official ceremony to dedicate a wildflower garden in her name, everyone can participate in the sowing of the seeds that will become Pat’s Wildflower Garden.
This special activity is hosted as part of National Planting Day which is officially Sept. 7. National Planting Day celebrates the value and power of native species in restoring ecological balance to the environment while creating greener, more beautiful communities.
