Thanks for your interest! We want to include the entire community in the process of creating a proposed revitalization plan that meets the interests and desires of as many people as possible. Currently the committee is in Phase One, gathering research and information about history, current conditions, opportunities and challenges, and learning from successes in other communities with downtown redevelopment/revitalization.
Phase Two will include multiple opportunities for community engagement, such as live and virtual meetings, focus groups, written surveys and visioning activities.
The committee will seek input on what the community wants to see downtown as well as conduct research on what worked successfully in other downtowns. Some amenities that could be included: new pedestrian-friendly streetscapes; public gathering spaces, cultural and arts facilities, events, retail and restaurants, and residential, office and business uses.
The committee will seek input from the community as to what types of residential housing they want to see in and around the downtown area. Committee members will research different residential uses that have worked in other successful downtown areas.
