The application filing period for the May 1 General Election ended on Feb. 12, 2021. Councilmembers are elected at large.
Notice: Posting this information on the City of Allen website does not constitute an endorsement of any one candidate. All candidates were provided the option to submit the information.
The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, January 19, 2022. The last day to file an application for a place on the ballot is by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022. The last day to file as a write-in candidate is by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22.
Allen City Council candidacy requirements:
Allen City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers at Allen City Hall. Agendas are posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act which requires at least 72 hours notice on the City’s Official bulletin board at City Hall and on the City’s website.
The following locations are designated by City of Allen as the General Election Day polling locations. Allen voters also may vote at any countywide voting center in Collin County.

Upcoming uniform / primary elections:
Allen City Council consists of the mayor and six council members elected citywide to serve three-year, staggered terms of office.
In addition to strategic planning and approving the annual budget, the council sets policy, enacts ordinances establishing municipal law, and regulates zoning and development. The council also appoints board and commission members.
